specialising in craft beer, come
more job opportunities - and

people person, a night owl, a
strategic thinker, or have a passion
for beer, there are positions in the

Bar person
You need to be unflappable
to work behind a bar. Your
job is to make customers
feel welcome, as well as
serve them drinks.
Bar work appeals to many
people as casual employment.
There are career opportunities,
however, and with
experience you can become
a manager or a publican.
What skills and qualifications
do I need? Good people skills
are key, as is flexibility, as
bar work often entails shift
work. A good memory and
numeracy skills are important.
You need to be at least 18 to
work in a pub unsupervised,
although you can start an
apprenticeship at 16.
How much can I earn? Salaries
start at £12,000, rising to
£35,000 for bar managers.
