Your Business With James Caan 2017 - 115
An intensive degree
course will provide
you with business
expertise and skills
and knowledge. There are varying
levels available - from a certificate to
an extended diploma - so you should
be able to find something that fits
your needs. For example, a Level 3
extended diploma is equivalent to
three A levels and can be used as an
entry qualification to a degree course.
WHY? A BTEC Level 3 National
diploma covers marketing,
communication and management,
with optional modules including
accountancy, law, administration
and other such fields, so you
can cater your diploma to your
career and business needs.
HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE? A
BTEC Level 3 National extended
diploma in business usually takes
two years. However, as with many
qualifications, there may be options
to make your study more flexible,
depending on the institution.
WHAT IS REQUIRED? You don't
need to have any experience in
business to study a BTEC Level 3
National in business, but if you do
it will certainly not be a hindrance.
However, you must be at least 16
years old and it's recommended you
have at least four GCSEs at grade C/
grade 5 or higher, or equivalent.
DID YOU KNOW? A survey carried
out by CBI/Pearson Education &
Skills asked businesses how equipped
the average school leaver is for
employment. The overwhelming
answer they gave was that the
education system needed to better
prepare them with the attributes
needed in the world of work.
"The prevalent skills gap in the
UK will need to be addressed and
the transition from education
significantly improved," says James.
A BTEC National is the perfect way
to address a lack of business skills.
