This groundbreaking
exhibition, curated
by acclaimed writer
and poet Benjamin
Zephaniah, features
paintings, sculpture,
writings and music
produced in prisons,
immigration centres
and other institutions.
It also offers free talks
and tours which are
led by ex-offenders.
This is a superb
opportunity to
investigate art with a
unique perspective.

LAZARUS
'Look up here I'm in
heaven... I've got scars
that can't be seen.'
Lines from David
Bowie's song Lazarus,
which add a moving
synchronicity to this
musical play, written
by Bowie and Enda
Walsh. Directed by Ivo
van Hove, it stars
Dexter's Michael C Hall
and is inspired by the
novel The Man Who
Fell to Earth by Walter
Tevis, exploring life,
death and different
states of consciousness.

Jim Jarmusch's latest,
Paterson, about the
journey of two lovers.

blasting out the beats
this month - you might
as well pitch a tent
there. Highlights
include indie folk band,
Daughter, boundary
pushing PJ Harvey and
2013 Mercury Prize
winner James Blake.

uber-talented French
chanteuse Christine
and the Queens. Just
the thought of her
makes me lose balance.

BEDLAM: THE
ASYLUM AND
BEYOND
Following on from the
Wellcome Collection's
fascinating States of Mind
journey into consciousness,
this exhibition explores our
relationship with mental
illness and the notions of
madness that lie behind them.
Featuring works from artists
reimagining the Asylum to
a theatrical performance of
Hearing Things courtesy of
Playing On's collaboration
with psychiatrists and patients
that depict both sides of the
coin and give rise to voices
seldom heard in today's world.
