Many beauty products claim
to be organic when they
aren't. In fact, a national
survey found that 76% of
consumers feel misled,
while 72% say they'd lose
trust in a brand that makes
such false claims. The Soil
Association has listened and
is fighting to change that,
as part of its Campaign for
Clarity. Soil Association's
Peter Melchett says: 'The
labels on products we
encountered were littered
with confusing terms. It is
very difficult for consumers
to know they are making the
right choice when doing

What better way to train
London's GP receptionists to
help homeless visitors to
their practice than an online
training video. It features
actors from the wonderful
Cardboard Citizens: the
organisation that has spent
the past quarter of a century
producing theatre with and
for homeless people. 'We
all need to do more to
ensure that people who are
homeless can get the care
they need,' says Dr Adrian
McLachlan, clinical lead
for Healthy London
Partnership's London
Homeless Health
Programme. 'So we hope
GP receptionists find the
training useful.'
There's been a huge leap
forward recently in the quest
to eliminate the UK's gender
pay gap, with the introduction
of a legislation that compels
companies to publish
details of their gender
pay discrepancy. The law
is to be enforced by the
Equality and Human Rights
Commission, and will
require organisations with
more than 250 staff to record
their pay figures. 'Helping
women to reach their
potential makes good
economic sense and is good
for British business,' says
Justine Greening, minister
for women and equalities.
'I'm proud that the UK
is championing gender
equality and now those
employers who are leading
the way will stand out
with these requirements.'

Malmö who were building
tiny constructions for mice.
An eccentric, fun idea, we're
sure you'll agree. But this
new concept from Sweden
is altogether more practical.
ReTuna Återbruksgalleria
in the city of Eskilstuna is
the world's first recycling
mall, where people can
drop off unwanteds to be
spruced up into something
sellable, while browsing for
furniture, computers, audio
equipment, clothes, toys,
bikes and more. Will we fall
for this in the way that we
did for Ikea? Let's hope so.
