umans have never had to
endure a more trying time
in our history. While health
care, feelings of safety and standards
of living are at all time highs, there's
unparalleled pressure to buckle
to new expectations. Workplace
innovations happen at breakneck
speed and if you're caught in the trap
of comparing your lot with social

The cost of always being 'on' can
wear thin. When you get stressed,
you produce excessive amounts of
cortisol and adrenaline. While these
are necessary in small quantities,

your heart to beat faster, giving you
extra energy and mobilising more
adrenaline - everything you want
in a crisis. However, your body and
mind treat a lot of day to day tasks
like an emergency situation, so the
secret isn't to exterminate the stress
hormone, but to keep it balanced.
