Last month I hosted a panel discussion on
the need for mindful leadership in society.
While I intended the conversation to focus
on politicians, media moguls and business
leaders, it soon became apparent that my
thinking was far too narrow - everyone
is a leader, regardless of whether they're
an executive or not. Everyone is a leader
of his or her own life.
I wonder how many of us take time to consider whether we actually like
the way we conduct our lives? We're expected to be great teachers, parents,
professionals, friends and partners - but can we manage ourselves first?
Self-awareness is the trait most cited in successful leaders. I would argue this
extends to every area of life.
At BALANCE, our intention is to provide information, encourage reflection and
avoid being prescriptive.
I hope you enjoy reading this issue and learning about what might be
happening to your body on a chemical level during the warmer, summer
months. Fundamentally, though, I hope you make your own mind up about
what it is your body's calling out for.
