Following a sell-out summer
last year and a winter
residency with the Lodge,
Jimmy Garcia is returning to
London's Southbank Centre
with the BBQ Club. It features
a walk-up BBQ bar where you
can grab speedy burgers and
boxes for under a tenner. Up
on the roof, you can sit down
to a six-course tasting menu
including dishes such as miso
glazed charred aubergines
with pomegranate molasses
yogurt, squid with green olive
guacamole and the excitingly
named 'hard core prawn'.

Turning the traditional
smokehouse reputation
on its head, Rök (which is
Swedish for 'smoke') is
as stylish as they come.
The interiors are something
straight out of a Scandi
Pinterest board and
the food is textbook
simplicity. Everything's
cooked on fire and served
alongside fermented and
preserved seasonal UK

one favourite dish is the
deliciously plump scallop,
simply served in shell with
spicy nduja and British

From Pitt Cue Co in Soho to
the Smokehouse in Islington
and Chiswick, if there's one
man that knows his way around
a BBQ, it's Neil Rankin. At
Temper Soho, the emphasis is
on specialist breeds such as
beer fed Dexter beef, and old
spot pork cooked in front of
your eyes on the open fire pit
over wood and charcoal. Cuts
are then served in inventive
ways, such as leg shawarma
or whole smoked rib and any
excess beef fat is used in
homemade tortillas and butter.
Even the bones are put to good
use in tasty broths.
