Riddled with expectation and pressure,
Valentine's Day succeeds in three matters:
tyrannising couples, oppressing singletons
and making retailers rich.
Heart-shaped pasta, personalised
wooden spoons, his and hers matching
key rings. As far as I'm aware, none of
these ever featured in the great works of
Romantic literature.
Rather than wasting your money on overpriced tat, spend
time sharing experiences. Genuine romance involves spontaneity - showing your
loved one/s you're thinking about them without having to be reprimanded first.
To counterbalance conformity, therefore, we invite you to revel in a day of
everything-anti. The best places to dine alone, the best ways to celebrate your
love (for yourself), even, should you need it, how to divorce happily. We can also
offer new ways to rejoice in your celibacy, or convince your partner there may
be an alternative to the monogamy you currently... enjoy.
No matter your status, we know you don't need a single day to demonstrate
your love. You've got another 364 days of the year to do that.
