The Atlantic Highway is the
name given to that section
of the A39, as it passes from
the North Devon Link Road
into ornwa . t is o en a
busy route but the views are
certainly worth it, as you travel
the line of the coast between
Barnstaple in Devon to the
junction with the A30 south
of Newquay in Cornwall.
The route takes up to
two hours and once you hit
Indian Queens, where the
A39 Atlantic Highway ends
and you join the A30, you can
continue your trip right down
the 'leg' to Land's End.

takes you through the heart
of Exmoor National Park,
home to wild red deer. It's a
unique landscape of moorland,
woodland, valleys and farmland,
shaped by people and nature
over thousands of years.

with its castle and links to the
legend of King Arthur.

heading over the Ballachulish Bridge

From here the most direct route to
Skye takes you past Loch Duich and
the iconic Eilean Donan Castle to Kyle
of Lochalsh and the Skye Bridge.
