In the west, in the section of the French coast known as CharenteMaritime, the beaches are as fabulous as they are unspoiled.
La Rochelle, the Cote Sauvage and Talmont-sur-Gironde are
places which should be far better known - but let's be grateful
they're not, for now at least. These resort towns are still very
French and, while the beaches are as gorgeous as those on the
Cote d'Azur, they are visited by far fewer people.
Make the best of this region by camping near safe, sandy beaches
- for example, stay in an Al Fresco Holidays' (www.alfrescoholidays.com) site, where you can enjoy great facilities while
soaking up the natural beauty and the stunning Atlantic coast.
