ou're probably your own worst enemy when
it comes to your feet.Shoving them into
tight shoes, dancing for hours in high heels
and still assuming they will happily carry
you around without complaint for hours on
end. And that's not to mention wrapping them up and
forgetting about them for months over winter.
But taking your feet for granted could ultimately
prove to be a big mistake, cause great pain and affect
your lifestyle. Give your two best friends the attention
they deserve, and try to avoid potential problems.
'Love your feet, don't neglect them,' says foot
specialist Dr Ahmad Malik. 'Follow these simple steps:
wash your feet daily with soap and water and dry
thoroughly after; change your socks daily; trim your
toenails straight; avoid wearing flipflops and shoes with
no support for prolonged periods; avoid wearing high
heels all the time. Also, do not ignore any pain lasting
more than a month.'
If you do suffer from ongoing pain in your foot,
you should visit your GP or a specialist clinic to
find out what the problem is. Serious problems,
such as tendon damage or a fracture, will require
immediate attention and often surgery.
