from the wall to form an alcove. GREAT FOR: Creating the perfect nook for a sofa.
Casement
These windows are hinged at the side and open outwards. GREAT FOR: Allowing plenty of sunshine and air into your home.
Awning
Designed to provide light and air when positioned high on walls, these are hinged at the top and open outwards. GREAT FOR: Putting above large picture windows as a means of increasing ventilation without having to open the whole thing.
Tilt and turn
These can either tilt in at the top or open inwards hinged at the side, similar to a casement. GREAT FOR: Cleaning windows from the inside.
Bow or bay
A window with one central and two flanker units projecting
Transom
Sits above a window or door. GREAT FOR: Giving a room that special touch and letting in light.
