Limescale control in water for domestic,
industrial and commercial situations
JUST IMAGINE WHAT'S IN YOUR BOILER
The reason you have limescale in the kettle is because Calcium carbonate in tap water - the cause
of 'hard' water - adheres to the heating element as the liquid is boiled.
This happens in washing machines, dishwashers, electric showers, coffee machines and boilers
too - but you don't see it.
The government-funded company the Carbon Trust estimates that limescale builds up at a rate
of 1mm per year on average in hard water areas, causing a 7% increase in the energy required
for the boiler to meet the same heat demand. This is because limescale acts as an insulator on
water heating elements.
The government calculates that, on average, each UK household spends £1,300 a year on energy.
As much as 84% of this goes on the central heating and hot water. This breaks down as follows:
84% of £1,300 = £1,092 for heating and hot water
7% of £1,092 = £70.44 extra cost per year due to limescale
Not only does limescale gradually increase energy consumption in all your hot water appliances, it is also a major cause of
breakdowns, resulting in expensive repair and replacement costs.
Since 2006, it has been a government requirement that new homes have some form of water treatment installed to prevent
this unnecessary waste of energy. But without protection from limescale, your energy bills will increase year by year.
A SIMPLE AND PERMANENT SOLUTION - SCALE INVADER
The Scale Invader unit modifies the Calcium carbonate in the water to Aragonite, which does not
adhere to heated surfaces. It is very compact (95mm x 70mm x 60mm) and can easily be installed
with no cutting required: just clamp it to the outside of the incoming mains water pipe and it will
start working immediately. It contains powerful magnets that modify the minerals in the water as
it flows through the pipe, preventing limescale build-up. An installation service is available.
The Scale Invader offers a guaranteed solution to this unnecessary expense - or your money
back. The one-off cost of £350 could easily be recouped within two years, as it will slowly
remove existing limescale deposits and prevent any further build-up - forever!
