Easy to install
When Lee and Stephanie Taylor
replaced their old wood-burning
stove, it led to insufficient draught
- in part due to the chimney being
too short or inadequate, but also
because the new stove was energyoptimised and didn't emit much heat
into the chimney.
'The draught wasn't the same with
our new stove,' says Lee. 'Lighting it
was difficult when it was windy out,
as well as in rainy and still weather.'
Smoke was escaping from the
stove when refuelling, and Lee found
it tricky to keep the fire going.
'The new stove was certainly more
energy-efficient, but we needed
something to give us the right
draught in the chimney,' he says.
'Then there was the annoyance
of the fire dying.'
The solution was a Draftbooster
fan, installed on the chimney to
ensure sufficient draught.
'Since installing a Draftbooster,
we're happy to have minimised
smoke in the living room and we no
longer struggle to light the stove,'
says Lee. 'Assembling it took very
little time. Then it's just a matter
of installing it on the chimney and
pulling the cord under a roof tile and
into an electrical outlet in the attic.'
Using the fan is straightforward,
with only two buttons on the remote
control - on and off.
'We build the fire, turn on the
remote, light the firelighters - and
it's done,' says Lee. 'We probably
run the Draftbooster for about 10
minutes when lighting, until the
chimney is warmed up and a natural
draught appears - and then again for
about 10 minutes when refuelling.'
