SERVICE IS AT
THE HEART OF
Robert Bianchi, managing
director of the furniture store
'The story begins in 1854 with a journey
on foot from the shores of Lake Como
in northern Italy, over the Alps and
across central Europe to the British
silk town of Macclesfield.
'Here, a young adventurer called
Antonio Arighi sets up shop making
clocks and barometers, which he lends
to farmers on sale or return - a canny
idea that proves a money spinner.
'His fledging business takes off and
soon he's joined by Antonio Bianchi,
a master craftsman and cabinet maker
from the same Italian village of Casnate.
'Together they create Arighi Bianchi,
which gains a nationwide reputation
(and the patronage of kings) for
producing high-quality, handmade
furniture upholstered in locally sourced
silk. They open their landmark store,
fashioned after London's famous
Crystal Palace, in 1892.
'And 125 years later, it is still there:
a unique fourth-generation family-run
business with that same drive and
determination to offer a superb range
of furniture at affordable prices with
unbeatable customer service.'
wallpapers and fabrics for curtains
and upholstery,' Robert adds. 'We're
enjoying lots of green this season, as
well as some fabulous patterns, and
you'll see this coming through in all our
room sets and interiors.
'At Arighi Bianchi we understand that
everyone's home is different and we
pride ourselves on the choice we offer.'

These days, a lot of people want to
maximise their living space, particularly
to accommodate working from home
- and the new Abode Compact Living
collection allows you to do just this.
But trimming on size doesn't mean
you should be trimming on style, as
Arighi Bianchi's new Ross sofa range
(pictured above left) demonstrates so
well with its retro mid-century profile,
clementine-flecked upholstery and bold
striped scatter cushions.
'When you've been in the business
as long as we have,' says Robert, 'you
realise how important it is to listen
and respond to what customers want.
It's not just our business that goes back
four generations; some of our customers
do too! This means we have a duty of
care to build on that and to welcome new
families, ensuring this unique relationship
continues for generations to come.'
So enjoy a great day out at the Arighi
Bianchi store, with its award-winning
café bar and lots of free parking.
Located on the Silk Road, opposite the
train station (with direct links to London
and Manchester), the Peak District and
Macclesfield Forest are a 10-minute drive
away. So what are you waiting for?
