We’ve all been seeing the progress on the Rise Hall stately home that Sarah and husband Graham bought back over a decade ago for just £435,000. The Channel 4 programme Beeny’s Restoration Nightmare has been following their progress as they lovingly restore the Grade II* Listed building from its dilapidated state. But did you know that the house was built in around 1820 for the aristocratic Bethells – who Sarah and Graham bought it from? It was used as searchlight headquarters in World War II and then until 1990 was actually a Catholic boarding school. Work, which the couple are doing much of themselves, is still ongoing but they have managed to hold one wedding at the venue. The plan is to have it up and running as a fully functioning wedding venue where guests can stay.
