At Home with Sarah Beeny 2013 - (Page 9)

| EDITOR’S LETTER| Welcome C an you resist peeking at other people’s homes? I can’t! In fact, it’s one of the best parts of my job – finding great makeovers to inspire readers. And in this issue we have three very different houses to show you, one of them being the 97-room Grade II*-listed property in east Yorkshire owned by Sarah Beeny, this month’s guest editor. Renovations aren’t easy. Often messy, dusty and disruptive, they fill every corner of your home, cost a lot more than you bargained for and usually take twice as long as you’d hoped. And hardest of all are the decisions you have to make along the way – paint or wallpaper? Wooden flooring or carpet? Yet, we’re a nation of habitual home improvers because we want to live and relax in stylish surroundings. We do them for practical and financial reasons or because we need additional space. Sometimes we do them because we simply want to indulge our creative side. And let’s face it, the result can be a bonus, adding value to the property when it comes to selling up! This issue has everything you’d need to continue giving your home the love and care it deserves, as well as the finishing touches that say so much about you – and it doesn’t have to cost the earth either. Enjoy!
