At Home with Sarah Beeny 2013 - (Page 11)

| FOREWORD| HELLO READERS PHOTOGRAPH: John Carey|HAIR AND MAKE-UP: Kim Kiefer|STYLIST: Gemma Shanley W ell, it’s been a busy year so far. Rise Hall, our Grade II*-listed stately home in east Yorkshire, is now firing on all cylinders, which my husband Graham and I are delighted about. The restoration project has taken 12 years, but business is now booming and weddings are aplenty this year! I’m also busy penning a new DIY book, which is hopefully going to be released early next year. I’m taking it back to basics to help novices and those less confident of tackling projects on their own. I thoroughly enjoy it and I want that passion to come across and inspire you all. You’ll be surprised how much you like DIY once you get going – honestly, it’s great! And while we might still be in the midst of a recession, it’s not all doom and gloom. It has been pleasing to see breakthrough businesses of late – online especially. For all the companies that are going bust, I’ve heard a lot of success stories, too. It’s about making customers’ lives easier in all industries, not just property. Speaking of which, (my selling and buying property website) is ticking over nicely, with lots of fresh ideas planned for the future. While love is still in the air on (MSF). We’ve had one MSF wedding at Rise Hall so far – and we’d like some more! This issue of at home is packed with tips on interiors, renovations and getting the most out of your property – along with vital advice for first-time buyers. Enjoy!
