Months of sleep deprivation and endless hours of crying don’t mix well – follow these slumber-time tips for a peaceful night’s rest
or the favoured few whose little lambs sleep from 7pm to 7am without so much as a peep, bedtime is just an ordinary part of the day, but for the majority who experience regular sleepless nights, encouraging your baby to sleep soundly can feel like an uphill battle. However, setting up a bedtime routine, getting well-equipped and accepting that each and every baby will have her own sleep pattern can help you snatch a few more of those all too precious winks...
The right position
It’s important to place your baby flat on her back to sleep because this is the position that has been proven to reduce the risk of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS). Place her in the ‘feet-to-foot’ position, at the bottom of the cot. This will make her less likely to wriggle down under the blanket or sheets. Avoid duvets, pillows and cot bumpers until she is a year old. >
