CONSIDER HOW YOU USE EACH ROOM BEFORE
YOU CHOOSE NEW FLOORING - CARPET MIGHT
BE GREAT FOR ONE AREA BUT THE SAME
ISN'T ALWAYS TRUE ACROSS THE HALL
KITCHEN
Vinyl is comfortable and
warm underfoot, and one
of the most cost-effective
options for a kitchen floor.
Stone or slate looks great
in the kitchen, and is less
porous than limestone or
marble, reducing the risk
of staining. Natural stone
will stay looking good for
a lifetime if you have it
professionally cleaned,
maintained and sealed by
a specialist company.
Laminate is another costeffective flooring option
that creates an authentic
wood effect. Laminates are
tough so they're ideal for
busy households with lots
of traffic in the kitchen.
Hardwood flooring will
add value to your home,
but it's expensive. Walnut,
oak and maple are more
durable than softwoods
like pine. Colours range
from pale ash through to
dark chestnut, and plank
lengths vary. Solid wood is
water resistant but will need
to be sealed. To hide stains,
choose engineered boards
with a lacquered rather
than oiled finish.
